Last updated Mar 31 2006 02:37 PM MSTCBC NewsA Pincher Creek teenager became $70,000 richer Friday after he sold the 1950s era pickup truck featured in the movie Brokeback Mountain.Matthew Kennedy, 16, bought the black 1950 GMC pickup in an auction shortly after the film was made. In the movie, the truck was driven by Jack Twist, the character portrayed by Jake Gyllenhaal.As a result of Brokeback Mountain’s popularity, Kennedy decided to auction the truck on EBay, fetching a final price of more than $60,000 US when bidding closed on Thursday night.”I thought I’d hang on to it ’cause I really didn’t know very much about the movie,” Kennedy said about his purchase of the truck. “I didn’t know that it was going to be this big.”Kennedy said he plans to use most of the money to fund his university education. He also said he wants to buy another truck similar to the one used in the film.
